The Timberland Company is launching their latest innovation in green product design in stores and online: Earthkeepers 2.0, an 80% recyclable men’s boot.

Product facts:

· The Earthkeepers 2.0 design-for-disassembly platform includes an outsole that is easily removed from the upper through a feedbag stitch and removable hardware for re-use

· After usage consumers can simply return the Earthkeeper 2.0 to a Timberland store where the components will be disassembled and sent for recycling

· Marks a 15% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions

· Marks a 15% increase in the use of recycled or renewable content, compared to the company’s traditional Earthkeepers boot

· Uses Green Rubber soles, a new patented green technology which effectively devulcanizes waste tire rubber to create a high quality recycled rubber compound that can be re-molded to perform like new. Timberland will be the first footwear company to commercialize this process and incorporate it into fall 2009 collections.
