Mobile phone recycling is becoming a major income stream for charities
Recycling has become a major income stream for charities as a leading electronics recycling business donates £3 million from mobile phone recycling campaigns.
ShP for Charity hit the £3 million mark in donations to charities after thousands of old phones were handed in by supporters over a five year period. It now plans to boost this figure by accepting a wider range of products for recycling. This includes old electrical equipment such as laptops, MP3 Players, ink cartridges and satellite navigation systems.
Simon Walsh, founder of ShP for Charity, said: “Many people want the latest gadgets as technology advances. With product replacement comes a surplus of redundant electrical items. Our aim is to replicate our success in mobile phone recycling amongst other small electrical products and generate more and more money for charities whilst helping minimise the UK’s e-waste.”
ShP for Charity works with more than 160 international, national and local charities including Missing People and Crimestoppers. ShP for Charity can provide a host of marketing collateral to charities that partner up with the business. This includes web pages, posters, collection boxes, envelopes, hosted recycling events as well as support for individual charity campaigns to encourage supporters to donate.
